What is Spranto?
Spranto is windows based desktop video conferencing client capable of sending and receiving full 1080p HD video and content.
What is the video conferencing protocol used by Spranto?
Spranto uses the H.323 protocol. The H.323 protocol is the most widely deployed video conferencing protocol in the world and is supported by all major equipment manufacturers.
Do I need a service provider to use the software?
No. You have several options when considering how to use Spranto. You can call Spranto clients directly if you know the IP addresses. You may use your own gatekeeper to set up a private video conferencing network. You may use a free public service like h323.net. Finally, you may use any commercial service provider that supports the H.323 protocol.
What is a Gatekeeper?
A gatekeeper is a device that sits in the network allowing H.323 devices to register and call each other. GnuGk is a free open source gatekeeper.
What is Direct Media?
Direct Media is a collection of ITU-T H.460 standards that are used by H.323 equipment to enable them to work from behind NAT/FW devices, allowing users to make video calls to other users over the Internet.
